LOCATION

The Foothills of the Comeraghs

We are located in the idyllic Mahon Bridge, Kilmacthomas, Co.Waterford, resting in the shadows of the Comeragh Mountains. The local parish is Kilrossanty. Our café is based in this very rural heartland, opposite the triangular field. You cannot miss us when travelling to the Comeragh Mountains, Mahon Falls, Magic Road or Crough Wood. If you're visiting Coumshingaun or Modhra Lake, continue along the R676 towards Dungarvan/Cork and you will find us on the right in Mahon Bridge.

Despite the isolated location, the twelve mountains which form the Comeragh Mountains are very popular for mountain climbers and hikers, tourists, locals, families and Sunday spinners. The highest peak is Fauscoum at 792 m (2,598 ft). Additionally the R676 Carrick to Dungarvan route is hugely popular with cyclists and cycling groups, along which the 1998 Tour de France travelled. The stretch from our crossroads to the mountain entrance is a very popular 5km hill climb for cyclists. Crough wood is perhaps one of the most magical places in co.Waterford, if not Ireland. The mighty deciduous tress surround the tumbling River Mahon, visitors can enjoy the scenery on the forest path. In Crough nothing is out of the ordinary, from yoga in the woods, still life classes, fairy trails to sculptures.

Our nearest town Dungarvan is a stunning harbour town offering a host of accommodation options, restaurants and amenities. Our nearest village Kilmacthomas is nestled in the Mahon Valley and is well worth a trip to see the stunning Railway viaduct.

The Waterford Greenway is also a stones throw from our Café in Mahon Bridge (4km). Visit us, at the gateway to the Comeraghs.
